She was advised chemotherapy but she refused it. Barium swallow, USG abdomen and chest X ray are within normal limits. Patient is now symptom free. This is 67 years old male patient of carcinoma of stomach (1/1/2003) and metastasis in liver (17/11/2003), post chemotherapy. USG abdomen shows no evidence of metastasis or lymphadenopathy. Median overall survival in cases such as this is 6 months and progress free survival is 3.1 months1. A 65 years old female patient of carcinoma of lower end of CBD and head of pancreas, post surgery. Complete remission is seen for 5 years 5 months of Ayurvedic treatment. Quality of life has improved. No recurrence is seen. Her Karnofsky score is 90 and ECOG score is 1. In cases such as this recorded 5 year survival is 17% and median survival is 18 months1.

This is case of carcinoma of sigmoid colon (1980), post surgery and chemotherapy and carcinoma of caecum (1994), post surgery and chemotherapy. HPR: Moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of anal canal. Invasion by tumour of anal submucosa, muscle layer, serosa and rectal mucosa and submucosa. Outer half of the vaginal wall is infiltrated by islands of non keratinizing malignant squamous cells. A fistulous anal tract is seen filled with vegetable matter, non specific inflammatory exudates. Moderate desmoplastic reaction is seen around the tumour islands. Adjacent anal mucosa shows carcinoma in situ. Vaginal mucosa shows keratotic hyperplasia without atypia. No origin from vaginal mucosa identified. Rest of the colon is unremarkable. All 12 peri rectal nodes are negative for metastasis.

Bulky uterus is seen with a thick endometrial cavity echo. A well defined small hypoechoic mass is seen in anterior wall of uterus, appearance suggestive of an intramural fibroid. A well defined complex cystic mass is seen in left adnexal region (?) inflammatory. TO mass (?) cystic neoplasm of left ovary. No other significant abnormality is detected in this examination.

No evidence of metastases seen. Slightly enlarged bulky uterus contains three small hypoechoic masses in the anterior wall of uterus – appearance suggestive of intramural fibroids. No other significant abnormality is detected in this examination.
