RADIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSTIC FACILITIES

DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY  :

Mammography is a process of using low energy X rays (usually around 30kVp) to examine the female breast for diagnosis and screening.

Aim of Mammography:

Early detection of breast cancer.

Mammography plays a central part in early detection of breast cancer as it shows changes in the breast years before a patient or physician can feel them.

According to the guidelines from American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recommend screening mammography every year for women beginning at age 40 years & above. Research has shown that annual mammograms lead to early detection of breast cancer when they are most curable and breast conservation therapies are available.

ENDOSCOPY  :

It is a non-surgical procedure used to examine digestive tract with the help of a flexible scope and a tiny camera attached to the tip.

Gastroscopy : Examination of parts of GI tract like Mouth, Throat, Oesophagus, Stomach, Duodenum.

Colonoscopy : Examination of parts of GI tract like Colon, Caecum, Rectum. While  examining  abnormal  growth, polyps can be removed as a whole or part for biopsy and for further diagnosis.

ERCP : (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) is available to detect any abnormality of bile and Pancreatic ducts.

DIGITAL X-RAY & PORTABLE X-RAY   :

Digital X-Ray : X rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation use to view images of bones & other structures in the body.

Portable X-Ray : X ray unit which is movable and smaller than the fixed one.

It is used especially in immobile patients like in ICU or post-operative status.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY   :

Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce images of organs, tissues and other structures inside the body. Unlike X rays USG don’t use any radiation.

Pregnancy USG : Available for Ante Natal& Post Natal care.

Diagnostic USG : Available to view and provide information of internal body parts like liver, blood vessels, bladder, kidney, female reproductive organs etc.

2D ECHO : This technique is used to evaluate the real time motion of heart’s structures. Ultra sound waves are used in this test and no radiation is used.

INDICATIONS : Chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, diabetes, hypertension, chronic heart diseases.
